<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing method and apparatus of a dyestuff-based write-once DVD medium which can obtain a good recording waveform at a time of carrying out high linear speed recording. <P>SOLUTION: (1) In the recording and reproducing method and apparatus of the dyestuff-based write-once DVD medium, each mark other than a shortest length mark is recorded on a recording layer formed on a substrate having a guide groove at which a high-frequency wobble is provided and containing an organic dyestuff, by using one pulse light at which two places which are a leading portion and a trailing end portion of a heating pulse are made to be high-output for a given time and at which a pulse light power of the leading portion of the heating pulse is greater than a pulse light power of the trailing end portion, the shortest length mark is recorded by a simple square wave and the record is reproduced by reproducing light. (2) In the recording and reproducing method and apparatus mentioned in (1), the illumination light amounts of cooling pulses after the pulse trailing end portions of all of the marks are made to be ≤0.1 mW for a given period when the mark is recorded. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
