Method for determining the operating temperature of an electrically operated motor vehicle component has the following steps: specification of at least a first value for the electrical current flowing through the component at a given output temperature, measurement of a second value for the component current during component operation and determination of the component temperature using the first and second current values as well as the already known output temperature at the first measured current value. An independent claim is included for an arrangement for implementing the above method.
