PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image fixing device which can prevent the fixing components from breaking or being smeared by the offset toner and can secure high productivity. SOLUTION: The fixing device which transfers the recording material carrying an image, by using a nip formed with 1st and 2nd fixing components, has a heater in contact with the above 1st fixing component to heat it, a 1st temperature sensor disposed in contact with this heater, and a 2nd temperature sensor disposed in contact with the 1st fixing component. The 1st and the 2nd temperature sensors are disposed at different positions in the length direction of the nip. It is possible to use the recording materials of two or more types of sizes in the length direction of the nip. Further, the 2nd temperature sensor is disposed within the length range of the recording material large in the length direction of the nip at the position outside the length range of the recording material small in the length direction of the nip.
