PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical material that is superior in a high refractive index, light scattering properties and environmental characteristics. SOLUTION: An optical resin composition contains a resin component, comprising (A) N-acryloylcarbazole, (B) polyfunctional polyester acrylate and (C) dimethylol tricyclodecane diacrylate and containing these components at a predetermined ratio, or in addition to the components (A) to (C), the resin component containing (D) 9,9-bis[4-(2-acryloyloxyethoxy)phenyl]fluorene in a predetermined ratio; and (E) a polymerization initiator; and an optical element is manufactured by using this composition.
