[PROBLEMS] To easily select a tag without marring the WYSIWYG of the edit screen when a Web page is authored. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] To assist object selection in authoring a Web page, a reference point is determined fo r object selection in response to a user action on the edit screen of a Web page, a reference area surrounding the reference point is set, a view object nearest to the reference point is selected as a reference view object from the view objects in the reference area, a view object associated with the re ference view object is selected from the view objects in the reference area, a first rectangle representing the reference view object and a second recta ngle representing the associated view object are drawn separately from the r eference view object and the associated view object with a space defined for object selection between the first and second rectangles. |
