摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of keeping a humid environment suitable for an electrolyte material without severing a movement path of gas, electrons and protons in a catalyst layer, and of developing extremely efficient battery performance. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell includes a pair of catalyst layers with a proton-conducting electrolyte membrane therebetween, wherein at least the catalyst layer of a cathode is formed of a mixture containing a catalyst constituent, an electrolyte material, and a carbon material, and the carbon material comprises a catalyst support carbon material with the catalyst constituent supported thereto, and a gas diffusion carbon material without supporting the catalyst constituent. The fuel cell is characterized in that the gas diffusion carbon material comprises at least two kinds of carbon materials such as a carbon material A of which the steam adsorption amount at 25&deg;C and at a relative humidity of 90% is not larger than 50 ml/g, and a carbon material B of which the steam adsorption amount at 25&deg;C and at a relative humidity of 90% is not smaller than 100 ml/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
