PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid detergent composition not affected by an external factor such as sweat and hardness, having excellent foaming power and foam quality, and hardly causing maceration and break by dissolving at the use. SOLUTION: The solid detergent composition comprises (A) a sulfate represented by the formula (1): R<SP>1</SP>O(CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>O)<SB>n</SB>SO<SB>3</SB>M, (B) a higher alcohol represented by the formula (2): R<SP>2</SP>-OH, (C) a glyceryl ether represented by the formula (3): R<SP>3</SP>-OCH<SB>2</SB>-CH(OH)-CH<SB>2</SB>-OH, (D) a higher fatty acid salt represented by the formula (4): R<SP>4</SP>-COOM and (E) an inorganic salt, regulated so that the total of the components (A), (B) and (C) is 25-40 wt.%, the ratio of [components (A)+(B)+(C)] to [components (D)+(E)] is 2.0-0.5, and the content of the water is≤50 wt.%.
