PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven compressor with a built-in inverter, operable without impairing reliability and performance even at a high temperature and at strong vibration caused by its mounting to an engine surface, by efficiently cooling the inverter without enlarging a machine body vessel. SOLUTION: This motor-driven compressor has a casing body 3 incorporated with a compression mechanism 5 and an electric motor 4 driving the compression mechanism 5, and an inverter case 7 incorporated with the inverter 8 driving the electric motor 4, and uses a suction refrigerant as a main cooling means for cooling a heating part 19 of the inverter 8. Performance and reliability are improved by restraining the promotion of deterioration by the heat of a part and a circuit for constituting the inverter 8 by thermally insulating and cooling a space in the inverter case 7 by a thermo-module 20.
