PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a loading device of an ergometer for rowboats further applying a load in a catch (a time when blades of oars take water in the rowboat). SOLUTION: The conventional ergometer for rowboats applies a little load in the catch and gradually increases the load towards a finish. However, the load is suddenly applied to the blades of the oars in the catch when actually rowing a boat. A trainee using this ergometer for rowboats has the load by pulling the grips, however, an object for connecting the grips to an ergometer body is a roller chain used for bicycle and the like. The roller chain is clamped by an engagement clutch to apply a load. Thus, the load is applied till releasing the engagement clutch. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
