PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a book aligning device capable of aligning books in a lateral direction in a standing state. SOLUTION: The book aligning device comprises an endless belt 34 on which books B are placed; a book loading portion 50 having a space in which the books are placed in the standing state on the endless belt, a supporting plate 38 supporting the books on the endless belt in the standing state and integrally moving that with the endless belt; a sensor 56 detecting whether the books are in the space of the book loading portion or not; and an air nozzle 60 blowing off air to the books disposed in the space of the book loading portion, and moving the books to the supporting plate side. A controlling means of the book aligning device drives an air nozzle to move the books to the supporting plate side, and drives the endless belt to circulate, when the sensor detects that the books are in the book loading portion.
