A craft, supported by an air cushion and moved to a location for use as a sea platform, comprises a deck 10 with cabin superstructure 26, 28 thereabove and with propulsion means 30 is formed with a flexible peripheral wall 20 which is secured to deck 10 and in use is inclined inwardly at an acute angle to the water surface to enclose an air cushion 18 formed by air pumping apparatus 14. Structural apparatus (Fig. 3, not shown) holds wall 40 in its desired position and a flexible skirt may extend from the base aperture or may be retracted. It is stated that the hull form renders the craft stable in pitch and roll even though the centre of gravity C.G. is positioned above the water level.</p> |
