The system has an electronic control unit (3) connected to an outlet of an effort sensor (4) that is provided between non-driven front and rear wheels (1a-1d) and ground. The unit is connected to an outlet of an interface (2) between a driver and a motor vehicle and to an inlet of an electrical control motor (5) that controls a parking brake of the vehicle. The unit controls releasing of a parking brake at reception of signals from the sensor and the interface. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling parking brake of a motor vehicle.
