PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a convenient bread maker permitting easy cooking of melon-flavored bread. SOLUTION: The automatic bread maker includes a bread pan 4 detachably mounted inside a baking chamber 2 with a heater 3; a motor 5 to drive a kneading vane 7 disposed in the bread pan 4; a control means 16 for controlling the heater 3 and the motor 5; an input means 13 for selecting a kind of bread making courses including a melon-flavored bread cooking course; and a display means 14 for displaying the selected bread cooking course and the time to finish the cooking. The cooking sequence of the melon-flavored bread cooking course includes a dough loading step for loading cookie dough by opening a lid 8 during the cooking step. When the dough loading step is completed, the input means 13 is operated to complete the dough loading step. The cooking time in the next step and thereafter is adjusted according to the time required for the dough loading step, so that the cooking time for the melon-flavored bread cooking course is approximately uniform. Because of the cookie dough loading step, loading of cookie dough is easy, and as the total cooking time is approximately uniform, the bread maker can be conveniently used.
