<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clarify a new causal gene of pulmonary cancer, thereby providing the gene, a method for detecting the gene, a kit for the detection method, a method for screening a cancer therapeutic agent and a medicinal composition. <P>SOLUTION: The present inventors have found that a fusion gene existing in some cancer patients is an oncogene, constructed a method for the detection of the gene and a protein encoded by the gene and a method for screening a protein suppressing agent (therapeutic agent for cancer positive for the fusion gene) by using the protein, and clarified that the protein suppressing agent develops an antitumor effect. According to the above findings, a new fusing gene useful as a screening tool, a fusion protein, a screening method and a medicinal composition for the treatment of cancer and positive for the fusion gene are provided.
