PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near infrared light-shielding composition which is raised in the infrared light absorbency within the range of 900-1,200 nm wavelength and having excellent heat ray-shielding effects for a transparent film in which a heat ray-shielding material such as ITO (indium tin oxide) powder or ATO (antimony tin oxide) powder is dispersed. SOLUTION: The near infrared light-shielding composition is a transparent layer-forming composition comprising heat ray-shielding material powder and has heat ray-shielding properties. Furthermore, the composition has absorbency within the near infrared region of 900-1,200 nm by providing a siliceous coating to the powder surface. The composition preferably contains the ITO powder, the ATO powder or indium oxide powder as the heat ray-shielding material powder and has an amino group-containing siliceous coating in a coating on the surface of the heat ray-shielding material powder.
