摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a high contrast and a wide viewing angle in a transflective liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: A plurality of pixels 10P including a liquid crystal layer LC interposed between a first transparent substrate 10 and a second transparent substrate 20 are disposed. In each pixel 10P a transmissive portion 10T and a reflective portion 10R are formed. The transmissive portion 10T includes a first common electrode 15 and a first pixel electrode 17 disposed on the first transparent substrate 10 and is operated by a FFS (fringe field switching) mode with high contrast and a wide viewing angle. The reflective portion 10R includes a second pixel electrode 19 disposed on the first transparent substrate 10 and a second common electrode 25 disposed on the second transparent substrate 20 and is operated by an ECB (electrically controlled birefringence) mode with a high reflectance of external light. Further, each first common electrode 15 in adjacent pixels 10P is connected by a thin wiring line 15W passing through an overlapped region with the second common electrode 25.
