<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the configuration of a spread modulation circuit. <P>SOLUTION: The spread modulation circuit includes a mapping circuit 206 for setting a level of transmission data Re(S), Im(S). The mapping circuit 206 sets the level of the transmission data Re(S), Im(S) to a level resulting from multiplying by 1/√2, respectively, a real number component and an imaginary number component of a complex signal Ssp obtained by performing complex multiplication on a complex signal S(1-j) and a complex signal (I+jQ), the complex signal S(1-j) resulting from rotating at -45° the phase of a complex signal S(i) with an output signal of a multiplication circuit 202 as the real number component and with an output signal of a multiplication circuit 203 as the imaginary number component and the complex signal (I+jQ) being with transmission data I as the real number component and with transmission data Q as the imaginary number component.
