PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-quality image by completely transferring a signal charge by boosting a gate voltage of a transfer transistor 12 which transfers the signal charge from a photo-diode 11 to a charge detection section FD, and further by suppressing the effect caused by noise that a charge pump boosting circuit used for boosting the gate voltage generates. SOLUTION: The charge pump boosting circuit 101 used for boosting the gate voltage of the transfer transistor 12 includes an oscillation frequency variable oscillator circuit and a pump section that is driven by an output pulse of the oscillator circuit and during a pixel reading term for reading a potential of a charge storage section FD of a pixel part 10a, the oscillator circuit in the charge pump boosting circuit 101 is controlled to reduce an oscillation frequency thereof.
