PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which prevents the occurrence of jitter by preventing a shift quantity due to lens shift from exceeding a prescribed threshold value and provides a highly stable high speed seek operation. SOLUTION: The optical disk device moves a reading position of an optical disk by a prescribed seek quantity in the radial direction, and is equipped with: an optical pickup which is equipped with an objective lens and moves the objective lens in the radial direction of the optical disk; a pickup moving means moving the optical pickup in the radial direction of the optical disk; and a seek control part controlling movement of the objective lens and movement of the optical pickup. The optical disk device is characterized in that after completion of movement of the optical pickup, the seek control part moves the objective lens so that a shift quantity from a neutral position of the objective lens does not exceed the prescribed threshold value and performs movement of the seek quantity.
