The device (23) has a handle profile (1) fixed to an open casement, and a band (22) receiving an electromagnetic suction cup. The profile defines two housing (4, 7) to receive the band and a backplate, respectively. The band is fixed in one of the housing by partially passing in another housing, and the latter housing receives the backplate when the band is fixed in the former housing, so that the backplate is adjacent to the suction cup. The band has a cover profile (17) cut into two parts to close an open surface of a rectangular shaped suspension profile (11) on both sides of the cup. An independent claim is also included for a method for installing an electromagnetic lock with a fixation device.
