A coating agent for a drug release stent, and a method for preparing the coating agent are provided to allow the rate of drug release to be controlled. A coating agent for a drug release stent comprises 1 part by weight of the plurane acetate represented by the formula 1; and 0.01-1 parts by weight of a biologically active material. Preferably the biologically active material is taxol. The coating agent for a drug release stent is prepared by dissolving 300 mg of the plurane acetate having 3-27 acetyl groups per 10 unit of anhydrous glucose in 2-4 mL of methylene chloride; and adding 10-20 % of a biologically active material to the obtained solution.
