The absorber pressing is multistepped and the powder mixture used for the pressings is typically as follows:- (preferred values in brackets) Pure carbonyl iron powder (I) of grain 4k to 50 wt.% size 8 microns and specific weight (47.5%) (vibrated) of 4.5 bm. per c.c. I of grain size 7 microns with insulated 45 to 50 wt.% coating (47.5%) Manganese-Zinc fusible ferrite 0.75-1.25 % (1.0%) Casting resin and a hardener stirred 4% approx. in an Acetone to a total kneading volume of 10% approx. The mixture is pugmilled for approximately 2 hours and the pressings made in a mould tool at a pressure of between 3.7 and 4 tons. The pressings are then brought up to a temperature of approximately 110 degrees C in a dry oven over a period of approximately 8 hours and the cured at that temperature for approximately 15 hours. Detailed dimensions of the pressing for a 16 mm diameter load are given. |
