<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buffering member and a shock protection device appropriate for use in a notebook personal computer and the like, which is compact and light weight and is excellent in shock absorption performance and mass productivity in manufacture and assembly and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The buffering member 16 forms a first plane 17, an opening part 21 opened to the first plane and an air storage part 22 for storing air formed inward from an opening. When receiving a shock load, the air in the air storage part is compressed and the first plane is deformed by the pressure of the compressed air to form a clearance.
