METHOD OF RETAINING TIP PROTECTOR ON NEEDLE WITH CURVED TIP

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably protect a needle tip in a catheter device.

SOLUTION: The diameter and length of a sleeve are preferably selected so that the sleeve positioned at a needle tip protector is engaged with a curved portion on the needle tip. A system for retaining a tip protector (10) on a needle (32) having a curved or bent portion (20) adjacent the tip. A Braun clip tip protector (10) is used in combination with a small sleeve (12) which fits around the needle such that it is free to slide towards the needle tip until stopped by the bent portion. In that stopped position, the tip protector (10) covers the tip but cannot slide off the end of the needle.
