<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image forming apparatus to appropriately subject image data stored in an external device to both-sided printing by directly connecting the external device to the image forming apparatus and according to setting by the external device. <P>SOLUTION: The image data are stored in an image memory unit 24 of the external device 20. When a user implements setting with respect to the image forming apparatus 30 by using a both-sided setting unit 26 so that the image data are output to both sides or one side of a medium, data are transmitted from a communication unit 22 of the external device 20 to a communication unit 32 of the image forming apparatus 30 via a USB cable 50. In the image forming apparatus 30, the information set by the both-sided setting unit 26 of the external device 20 is analyzed by a print command analysis unit 34, and an output setting control unit 38 carries out control so that the data are output from an image output unit 36 or a both-sided output unit 40 in a mode in which the image data received from the external device 20 are set from the analysis result. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
