<p>Steel rod (wire) used for reinforcing concrete is improved in strength and in cement adhesion props. by cold-working in a qu incunx rolling mill to ca 2% elongation, wire-drawing to 13-17 (pref. 15)% elongation, and finally rolling with engraved rollers to ca 3% elongation. Spec. mild Thomas steel is treated with improvement in the elastic limit from 18-24 up to 45-48 kg/mm2, and in rupture strength from 33-50 (pref. 37-44) up to 48-50 kg/mm2.</p> |
