A sludge removing apparatus for a settling pond of a water purification plant is provided to install, maintain and repair the apparatus easily, improve operating efficiency of the settling pond, reduce loss of raw water and treatment costs, and prevent environmental pollution by simplifying structure of the apparatus. A sludge removing apparatus for a settling pond of a water purification plant comprises: a plurality of discharge passages(130) for discharging sludge(10) settled on the bottom surface of the settling pond; sludge discharge ports respectively formed in one side bottoms of the discharge passages to discharge the sludge; wire ropes(210) respectively installed in the discharge passages; a plurality of discharge plates(220) respectively moved along the discharge passages by the wire ropes; a blocking film blocking upper parts of the discharge passages to separate the sludge and raw water from each other; a plurality of sludge discharge covers opening or closing the sludge discharge ports; a sensor sensing the amount of sludge settled in the discharge passages; a blocking film-control box operating the blocking film to block the sludge and raw water; a discharge gate control box opening the sludge discharge cover when the sludge and raw water are blocked; and a discharge plate-control box operating the wire ropes and controlling the discharge plates to discharge the sludge to the settled-sludge discharge ports.
