A light guide plate pattern formation laser unit and a method for forming light display pattern for a backlight unit are provided to deliver large amount of light by forming a depth of a pattern deeply by the distance from the side light source. An output unit oscillates laser by the output signal, and forms pattern on the light guide plate which is the location in which the light source is installed made of the plane of the Y-axis and the X-axis doing to the origin of the Y-axis. A motion part moves the output unit by the operating signal. A programming part(1) includes the control system for controlling the output unit and motion part, and enforces the program about the output of the operation of the output unit and laser the control system. A local bus(2) connected to the programming part receives, and processes pattern data of each 1 line of the X-axis corresponding to the specific Y coordinate of the light guide plate. A motion control part(4) controls the motion part by using data which are transmitted from the local bus.
