PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp socket wherein a click feeling is compatible with mechanical strength, and a luminaire using the lamp socket. SOLUTION: This lamp socket 1 includes a socket body 9 and a support 10 to rotatably support the socket body 9 between an open position where a lamp can be attached and detached and a closed position where the lamp can not be attached and detached. The support 10 is made elastically deformable so as to expand an operation window 34 into which a lamp pin is brought, and the socket body 9 can be displaced by elastic deformation of the support 10 in a direction perpendicular to the rotation axis with respect to the support 10. An engagement projecting part 49 is protrusively provided on the inner peripheral surface of the support 10, and an open engagement projecting part 50a for the engagement projecting part 49 to get over when the socket body 9 goes into and exits from the closed position with respect to the support 10, and a closed engagement projecting part 50b for the engagement projecting part 49 to get over when the socket body 9 goes into and exits from the closed position with respect to the support 10 are protrusively provided on the outer peripheral surface of the socket body 9.
