PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a procedure for determining the effect of erythropoietin before administration by clarifying the cause of an erythropoietin refractory or low-responsive case, and to achieve a tailor-made medical treatment utilizing it. SOLUTION: Erythropoietin responsiveness of a subject is diagnosed by detecting the level of an erythropoietin inhibitor bonding specifically to an erythropoietin acceptor and neutralizing action of erythropoietin through the erythropoietin acceptor, in a sample isolated from the subject.
