A foot operated irrigation pump and flow control device (10) for controlling the flow of irrigation fluid to a medical instrument (14/16). The device (10) includes a flow control unit (26/110/140) that is operable by an operator's foot to control a flow rate of fluid through a passageway therethrough, and a pump unit (28/170) that is in fluid connection with the flow control unit (26/110/140) and which is operable by an operator's foot to selective pump fluid out of the pump unit (28/170).
