PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive video display device capable of simultaneously displaying a plurality of images of high quality and suitable for three-dimensional image display.

SOLUTION: The video display device is equipped with: a first optical modulation part which modulates incident light in accordance with a first video signal to form a first image; one or a plurality of second optical modulation parts which modulate light from a light source in accordance with a second video signal; and an enlarged image forming part which is arranged on the light incident side of the first optical modulation part and enlarges and projects the light modulated by the second optical modulation part to form a second image. The video display device is configured in such a manner that the first optical modulation part on which the light of the second image formed on the enlarged image forming part is made incident modulates the light of the second image in accordance with the first video signal to form the first image.
