<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display wherein a numerical aperture is not reduced and transmittance is enhanced. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display has a substrate having a pixel electrode and a substrate having a common electrode. An aligned liquid crystal layer is provided therebetween and liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer are aligned in a vertical direction with no voltage applied thereto. Each pixel is composed of one or two or more sub pixels, crossing slits are respectively provided at parts corresponding to respective sub pixels on the common electrode and the direction of the slits on the common electrode is aligned with the direction of the absorption axis of a linearly polarizing plate or within ±10°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
