The engine has two cylinders (2) comprising intake valves (3) connected to an intake pipe (4) and exhaust valves (6) connected to an exhaust pipe (7) by an exhaust collector (23). The valves are associated to control units (5, 8). Each cylinder has an additional valve (9) associated with an independent control unit (32), where the additional valves are connected to the pipe by an exhaust gas recycling pipe (22). The exhaust gas recycling pipe is connected to a compressed air reservoir (10) by a connection pipe (11).
