<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointing system for easily moving a cursor to select a choice displayed on a display screen with a pointer. <P>SOLUTION: The pointing system comprises: a means for displaying a cursor 5 on a display screen 2 according to a position of a pointer 3 for pointing to the display screen 2; a means for displaying available choices 7 by the cursor 5 on the display screen 2; a means for adjusting a ratio of a moving distance of the cursor 5 to a moving distance of the pointer 3 based on a value representing a status of the choices 7.
