FIELD: metallurgy. ^ SUBSTANCE: metallic wire contains metallic core of specified diameter and layer of metallic coat out of brass. The method includes the following stages: (a) for preparing the surface of the core to application of brass coating the core is subject to at least one surface treatment; (b) the core is thermo-treated; (c) a layer of metallic coating is sputtered onto the core by means of plasma sputtering to the specified reference thickness; and (d) the coated core is drawn to a finished diameter which is less, than the specified reference diameter, thus the layer of metallic coating with a finished diameter thickness is produced; at that this thickness is lees, than specified reference thickness. ^ EFFECT: producing wire with uniform and homogeneous layer of coating. ^ 30 cl, 2 dwg, 4 ex
