PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that illumination becomes insufficient when an LED is used for auxiliary illumination of a camera with a zoom lens. SOLUTION: A variable diffusion coefficient LED 100 having a light control plate 105, whose light diffusion coefficient is changed according to applied voltage (v), is provided on the front of a blue LED element 101 for auxiliary illumination. When the applied voltage is off, light emitted from the blue LED element 101 is transmitted through resin containing phosphor 102 and reaches the light control part 110 of the light control plate 105, and is extremely partially reflected backward and mostly transmitted while it is scattered forward as shown by the upper part of Fig.4(a), so that radiation characteristic shown on the lower side of the Fig.4(a) is obtained. When the applied voltage is high, almost all the light is transmitted as it is as shown by Fig.4(c). As a result, by attaching an auxiliary light device 900 equipped with the variable diffusion coefficient LED 100 to the camera with the zoom lens, the light diffusion coefficient is consecutively changed according to zoom information, thereby suitably illuminating a subject.
