PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus obtaining a large number of effects, by reducing the weight of a charg roller or a transfer roller. SOLUTION: A roller member 1 for transferring a toner image on a photoreceptor drum 914 onto a sheet or for charging the photoreceptor drum 914 is composed of a roller shaft 10 and a conductive elastic member provided on its outer circumference. The roller shaft 10 has a hollow shape and is formed with large-diameter parts 10a and 10b which are in contact with a circumferential surface of the photoreceptor drum 914, thereby positioning the roller shaft 10, with respect to the photoreceptor drum 914. Consequently, the weight of the roller shaft 10 is reduced, and reduction in the size and the weight of the image forming apparatus, reduction in the material cost thereof, simplification of working of the image forming apparatus are actualized, resulting in cost reduction and improvement in the assemblability thereof.
