<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waveguide type single core bidirectional communication module capable of improving an S/N. <P>SOLUTION: A transparent layer 101 is formed as integrated with an incident/exiting end face 57 of an optical waveguide 49. When refractive indices of air, of the core of the optical waveguide 49 in an optical waveguide member 50, and of the transparent layer 101 of the optical waveguide member 50 are represented by n1, n2 and n3, respectively, they are in a relationship satisfying n1<n3<n2. That is, the transparent layer 101 is controlled to have the refractive index n3 larger than the refractive index n1 of air and smaller than the refractive index n2 of the core of the optical waveguide 49. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
