1,2-diols derived from Rhus vernicifera, Rhus toxicdendron, Rhus succedanea, Melanorrhea usitata, Semecarpus heterophyla, Gluta renghas, Semecarpus vernicifera are used for the complexation, solvent extraction and recovery of borates and boric acid from natural lakes. These processes are improved by the use of trioctylmethylammonium chloride as an adjunct. Preferred 1 ,2-diols include urushiol and thitsiol. |
