1,270,853. Extrusion - blow - moulding. A. D. SETTEMBRINI. 5 June, 1969 [4 April, 1969], No. 28387/69. Heading B5A. In an extrusion-blow-moulding method a tubular extrudate is closed prior to its entry into a mould comprising split mould halves which close on the extrudate, an upper lip of the mould engaging the extrudate to close the remaining portion thereof while avoiding engagement of the lower end of the extrudate. The mould halves may carry means to grip the neck of the extrudate during blowing which thereafter retract to enable severing of waste from the neck by a reciprocable cutter. The mould may also include a core to form a recess in the bottom of each moulded container and may also act as an ejector for the moulded containers. A plurality of extruders and associated blowmoulds may be placed side-by-side forming a large production plant, which may also include means for waste recirculation, handling, filling, stoppering and packing. The containers may have reinforcements, labels, faucets &c. incorporated therein. Air is supplied to the extrudate from the extruder prior to blowing to prevent wall collapse, air pressure being regulated to vary the bottom wall thickness of the article.
|
