The bars are of double height opposed, U-section the common web having a less than twice the height of the outside limbs and each outside limb lying between that and the web of the adjacent section, at approx. half way, all vertical, and leaving a gap to the shoulder of the adjacent U approx half the width of that shoulder. The bars are supported on staggered supports, of U channel, one limb being twice the length of the other so that they are locked on place by the ends of the bars. The fluid resistance is a minimum (to the fluid being filtered) but bed material can not drop into the sump. |
