<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film that can secure degradation in thickness-directional retardation (Rt) and uniformity of retardation values along a width, actualizes a suitable combination of in-plane retardation (Ro) and thickness-directional retardation (Rt), and reduce the haze value of the film and then improve the front contrast of a liquid crystal display panel, a manufacturing method thereof, a polarizer using the retardation film, and a display device. <P>SOLUTION: Disclosed is the manufacturing method of the retardation film by a solution flow casting filming method, the manufacturing method including a drawing process of drawing a film in a direction (TD direction) orthogonal to a carrying direction of the film and a heat treatment stage provided downstream from the drawing process. In the heat treatment process, a heat treatment is carried out, where film temperature is ≥glass transition temperature (Tg)-10°C and ≤Tg+40°C, the roll span of a guide roller in the heat treatment process is 50 to 300 mm, and the carrying power for the film is 15 to 90 N/m. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
