PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image storing device which carries out controls in such a manner that transferred image files may be deleted but image files assigned for use may not be deleted. SOLUTION: The image storing device includes: a storage medium to store image files in; processing means for executing an application which uses image files; means of assigning for use in application which assigns image files to be used in application; transmitting means for transmitting image files to an external device; transmission history providing means for providing transmission history information to transmitted image files; medium remaining capacity checking means for checking the remaining capacity of the storage medium; deleting means for deleting those image files having information indicating that they are transmitted files when the remaining capacity of the storage medium is a predetermined value or below; and delete control means for controlling the deleting means not to delete image files which are provided with information indicating that they are assigned for use even if they are ones having the information indicating that they are transmitted files.
