<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact, strong electrostatic discharge protecting component that is superior in heat radiation property, and to provide a light-emitting diode module that uses the electrostatic discharge protecting component. <P>SOLUTION: The electrostatic discharge protecting component comprises a ceramic sintered body, having a ceramic substrate 12, a varistor portion 10 formed thereon, while partially excluding a non-forming section 18, and a glass ceramic layer 14 formed further thereon; a pair of terminal electrodes 13a, 13b provided on the surface of a glass ceramic layer 14 in the ceramic sintered body; a pair of external electrodes (not shown) provided on a surface, at a side opposite to terminal electrodes 13a, 13b; and a heat-conducting portion 15 penetrating through the ceramic substrate 12 vertically. In the light-emitting diode module, the light-emitting diode element is mounted and packaged at the heat-conducting portion 15 of the non-formation section 18 in the electrostatic discharge protection component, and by providing the heat-conducting portion 15, the heat generated from the mounted component can be released efficiently in the electrostatic discharge protection component and the light-emitting diode module. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
