A seat detects whether or not a person is seated on it and provides the person with more comfortable sitting. The seat has a heat generation body (1), seat surface temperature detection means (5) located under a seat cover and detecting the temperature of the seat surface, and sitting determination means (6) for determination whether or not a person is seated on the seat. Whether or not a person is seated on the seat is determined based on the amount of variation in temperatures detected by the seat surface temperature detection means (5) for a predetermined time period, and this facilitates determination of whether or not a person is seated on the seat. When no one is seated on the seat, electricity conduction to the heat producing body (1) is stopped to save energy and improve fuel consumption. |
