<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element having a composition and structure surely preventing a phenomenon in which light from an active layer is blocked by a second electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting element comprises (A) a mesa structure 50, (B) a wall structure 60 having a similar layer structure to that of the mesa structure 50 and provided to surround the mesa structure 50, and (C) a bridge-like structure 62 having the similar layer structure to that of the mesa structure 50 for coupling the mesa structure 50 to the wall structure 60.
