PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image quality from being lowered by curving a CCD line sensor by heat that is generated by electrically connecting the CCD line sensor to a substrate. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an imaging unit 30 that is attached to an image forming apparatus and performs photoelectric conversion on an optical image, comprising an internal frame 4, a substrate 35, a charge coupled device (CCD) line sensor 33, a holding plate 36, and a holding member 37. The substrate 35 is fixed on the internal frame 4. The CCD line sensor 33 is electrically connected to the substrate 35 and is formed to extend in one direction. The holding plate 36 is provided in counter to the substrate 35 while disposing wherein the substrate 35 of the CCD line sensor 33. The holding member 37 is connected to the holding plate 36 and disposed in an approximately central portion, in a lengthwise direction of the CCD line sensor 33, and is a member for holding the CCD line sensor 33.
