摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep proper combustion even if an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) quantity is increased, in a spark ignition engine for conducting exhaust gas recirculation. SOLUTION: In an intake stroke, inside exhaust gas flow passages 36A, 36B of two exhaust gas ports 22A, 22B are closed by exhaust gas flow passage control valves 40A, 40B and an exhaust gas valve is opened to introduce combustion gas of an immediately preceding cycle into a cylinder from outside exhaust gas flow passages 38A, 38B. Outside intake flow passages 30A, 30B of the two intake ports 18A, 18B are closed by intake flow passage control valves 32A, 32B and fresh gas is introduced into the cylinder from inside intake flow passages 28A, 28B. The fresh gas containing significant oxygen is distributed at a center part of a combustion chamber and the combustion gas is distributed in side parts. Combustion is stabled by injecting fuel in the center part where the fresh gas is distributed while introducing significant combustion gas in the combustion chamber as a whole.
