PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the use of unpermitted fuel by discriminating the fuel to be used by a construction machine. SOLUTION: This fuel discrimination device has respective sensors 12 and 13 detecting density and the temperature of fuel introduced to a fuel tank or a fuel system of the construction machine, also has a first control means 14 identifying a kind of identification object fuel by detecting the density of the fuel, and a second control means 5 having a fuel determining part 5a determining the propriety of use of the identification target fuel, based on a signal from the first control means, detects and stores the temperature of the identification object fuel when turning on a key for starting an engine of the construction machine, also detects the fuel density by the density sensor 12 when there is a difference of a predetermined value or more in both fuel temperatures by comparing the fuel temperature with the fuel temperature stored in key ON of the last time, and determines the propriety of use of the identification target fuel by whether a density difference is a predetermined density range by comparing the detected fuel density with predetermined fuel density.
